Lower Levels after TRT???

by Daniel
(AZ, USA)

I've been taking doctor prescribed testosterone the last four months through injections. I initially got my levels checked and they were listed at 209ng/dl, below the acceptable normal range.

My doctor then decided to put me on 250mg every 3 weeks however I don't feel any better these last 4 months. I got my levels rechecked and now it's at 72ng/dl??? I don't understand how this is possible.

Hi Daniel,

The reason your levels are lower than when you started is due to the exogenous (outside) testosterone you've been receiving.

This has an effect of shutting down your natural production.

Since you're only receiving injections every 3 weeks, the drug is basically out of your system by that point.

This is because the enanthate version has a half-life of about 7 days, so initially your levels are higher than normal, then they taper off leaving you lowering than when than you started.

The test is out of your system by that point and you're producing less on your own to boot.

You'd be better off getting your injections once a week, or even better twice a week if possible.

You don't want to go any longer than that. On that frequency it should be easier keeping your testosterone levels stable in the mid to high range of normal.

Another thing to look in to is managing your estrogen levels with an anti-estrogen medication like Arimidex or Aromasin. It should make your T replacement journey more productive with less side effects, resulting in greater energy, mood, and sex drive.

Good luck!
