I've been on testosterone replacement therapy for over 8 months because my levels were so low. But as an added benefit, I now feel like going to the gym and lifting weights.
I have been injecting testosterone in my legs now for about 6 months. My trainer tells me that my legs are getting big because muscle growth is greatest near the injection site.
Is this true? If this is the case, I would like to inject in my shoulder muscles to help build muscle mass in this area. What do you think?
Hi Esteban,
Localized site growth from steroid injections is unfortunately widely regarded as a myth.
The androgens are transfered to the blood systemically then dispersed through the body. Therefore the concentration at the receptor level should be the same in your thigh as anywhere else in your body.
I'd like to think any site growth in that area is largely coincidence or maybe those muscles are specifically receptive to the extra testosterone in your body.
However... you never know. I'm giving you a 95% widely held belief by the steroid community.
Of course with all scientific theories, they can always change. Even though this practice may not make sense in theory it may be useful to keep an open mind and entertain the idea may work.
My final answer on this is; no, localized site growth is most likely not possible.
