Fighting Depression and Improving Coping Skills
Anger can be used as a powerful tool to help you in fighting depression. Beating depression requires you get off your ass and make one small change, no matter how small, to get the ball rolling out of the depths of misery. Coping with depression requires a stop gap; from eating better, to thinking more effectively, to making sure your neurotransmitters and hormones are up to par. "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!" From the motion picture, Network (1976).
How to Deal with Depression1. Get medical treatment by a family doctor or psychiatrist.
You can't just "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" or "snap out of it". People that have never experienced depression are usually the first one's to say it. Feeling that low in life can't be understood, if you've never been there. Getting help with depression can be as simple (although not easy) as getting out of your regular routine. Withering away in the confines of your home, may feel comfortable. But it allows your depression to feed on itself, becoming stronger and stronger. Little by little, a new thought, a little exercise, eating better, a new antidepressant, and/or getting your testosterone optimized can have profound effects on your mood over the long haul. Like a snowball effect, the days will go by, making your life that much easier to cope with. I'm not sugar coating anything here. The truth is... learning how to deal with depression takes work. Keep telling yourself, "tomorrow will be a better day." Do one thing that day that gives you some sort of pleasure, no matter how small. Fighting depression, like the video above, can be a powerful tool to get you out of a tight spot. Anger is a basic survival emotion, and can change your outlook from helpless and hopeless, to powerful and in control. Use it wisely.
