Testosterone Friendly Antidepressants

- Wellbutrin (Bupropion)

- Parnate (Tranylcypromine)

- Mirapex (Pramipexole)

They will increase your libido in most cases, and allow you to orgasm normally, which can be one less reason for you to be depressed!

The majority of the other antidepressants on the market reduce testosterone, through their serotonin and prolactin increasing action. The SSRI's and tricyclic's inparticular are bad for this. This may be favourable for women, but it's definitely not a good thing for the majority of men!

- Tricyclic's: Elavil, Sinequan, Tofranil and Anafranil.

- MAOi's: Nardil

Trazadone and Remeron may also help you sleep better, as insomnia is more common in men than women with depression.

As always, you may react differantly to some medications compared to others.

The SSRI or tricyclic antidepressants may be a better fit, depending on your unique neurotransmitter and hormone profile. It's never black and white.

If you suffer from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), the SSRI's may be a better suit you, as serotonin helps shut down these thoughts.

If you have chronic/neuropathic pain, the tricyclic's have been shown to down regulate these pathways particularly well.

For better treatment of your depression, I'd suggest talking with your doctor to find the best antidepressant medication suited to your specific needs and hormones.
